In mid-December, our CE1 students embarked on an exciting learning experience at Mlango Farm, a wonderful educational farm near Nairobi. The day began with a farm animal tour, where the children got to observe a wide variety of animals, including cows, sheep, goats, chickens, geese, horses, donkeys, rabbits, and even tortoises
Seeing these animals up close was a moment of pure joy and fascination.
Next, the students explored the farm’s lush plantations, where they had the chance to smell, touch, and taste freshly harvested spices, fruits, and vegetables. This hands-on experience helped them understand where food comes from and appreciate nature’s bounty.
A composting demonstration followed, teaching students about sustainability before they engaged in a hands-on activity: each child planted their own cutting in a recycled bottle—an eco-friendly and fun way to connect with nature.
To end this enriching day, the children enjoyed a delicious meal made from local ingredients, savoring the fresh flavors of farm-to-table food.
This unforgettable experience allowed the students to deepen their understanding of farming, sustainability, and respect for the environment.
A big thank you to Mlango Farm for this fantastic adventure!
