The Lycée Français International Denis Diderot (LFIDD) had the honor of contributing to the launch of the seminar for the 74 new English language assistants who are about to leave for France. Over the course of seven months, they will be teaching English in schools of all levels across the country.
Organized in partnership with the Alliance Française de Nairobi, the French Embassy in Kenya, and Campus France, this seminar marks the beginning of an exciting adventure for these young Kenyans.
First Steps at the Alliance Française
The seminar opened at the Alliance Française in Nairobi with a day filled with valuable insights:
-
an introduction to the French education system and legal framework,
-
a presentation of the cultural offer,
-
testimonials from former assistants returning from France.
This first step provided a strong foundation to prepare for their mission ahead.
Immersion at the Lycée Français International Denis Diderot
The following day, the assistants were welcomed into the LFIDD for a full immersion into the daily life of a French school.
They were able to:
-
observe classes in elementary, middle, and high school,
-
take part in pedagogical workshops on lesson planning and classroom activities,
-
share two convivial lunches with LFIDD teachers, who took the time to exchange about teaching practices and life in France.
These meaningful interactions allowed the assistants to better understand the students’ language journey and to reflect on their own teaching practices.
A Collective Commitment at LFIDD
This successful immersion was possible thanks to the involvement of our dedicated educational community.
We warmly thank:
-
all LFIDD teachers who took the time to welcome and exchange with the assistants,
-
Mme Goubin, Mme Le Garrec, Nangithi, Dune Froment, and Jenny Gaillard, for their active contribution,
-
and Hervé Leroy, our primary school teacher trainer, for his support and guidance.
An Official Reception at the French Residence
The seminar concluded with an official reception at the Residence of France, in the presence of the Ambassador and program partners. This was a meaningful occasion for the assistants to network and share their enthusiasm before their departure.
LFIDD, Committed to Educational Cooperation
By taking part in this seminar, LFIDD reaffirms its commitment to strengthening educational cooperation between France and Kenya.
We are proud to have contributed to preparing these future teachers, and we look forward to continuing this collaboration to best support these young Kenyans in their journey.
