AESH training

The AESH training programme was launched on Tuesday 25 September.

Assistants for pupils with disabilities (AESH) are staff who provide support to pupils with disabilities.

Under the responsibility of the teachers, their role is to encourage the pupil’s independence, without replacing him or her, as far as possible.

Our school has four full-time carers. They each follow several pupils, and work at all levels, from kindergarten to Terminale. Their activities focus on daily living, access to learning activities and social and relational activities.

This year, our AESH have a 6-hour in-service training programme to help them better understand their role.

The objectives of this course, given by our master trainer, are as follows:

    • Understanding the values of the school and the missions of the AESH
    • Observe to identify the needs of the supported student
    • Knowing the professional and specific gestures of the AESH job
    • Learn about different learning disabilities
    • Comprendre son rôle dans l’interface école/famille
    • Building a toolkit
