DELF Prim Certification Ceremony at LFIDD: Celebrating Language Learning and Promoting Multilingualism

This year, students enrolled in the LFIDD’s FLE-FLSco and UPE2A programs successfully completed the DELF PRIM exams, organized in partnership with the Alliance Française of Nairobi. These internationally recognized A1 and A2 certifications, based on the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), are valid for life and serve as an official validation of French language proficiency. They follow the same standards as certifications in Spanish, Italian, or German across Europe.

A highlight of the school year was the official certificate award ceremony, held in the presence of Bernard Clouteau, French Language Cooperation Attaché. His presence underscored the importance of the work being done and the high quality of the language support provided at our school.

The FLE-FLSco program is designed for students who already have some foundational skills in French but require additional targeted support. This initiative, led by specialized teachers since 2015, has benefited over 600 students. Pupils attend small-group sessions (maximum of 6 students) for an average of 3 hours per week, often during English or Swahili lessons, allowing for personalized and adaptive learning aligned with their main class curriculum.

The UPE2A program (Educational Unit for Newly Arrived Non-French-Speaking Students) focuses on students who are new to French, often recent arrivals, and need intensive language instruction. Established in 2016, this unit serves up to 12 students from GS (Grande Section) to CE2, grouped by age. The program combines focused language learning and partial integration into mainstream classes.

These two complementary initiatives empower students to strengthen both oral and written French while continuing their education with confidence. They reflect LFIDD’s commitment to inclusive, high-quality linguistic support that respects individual learning paths.

Congratulations to all our students for their achievements, and heartfelt thanks to our dedicated teaching staff for their unwavering commitment!
