Early Years Science | Little Detectives Day at LFIDD

How can scientific curiosity be aroused from an early age? As part of Science Week, LFIDD organized an exceptional morning: “Les Petits Enquêteurs”. A totally immersive experience, where manipulation and observation become the driving forces behind learning in nursery schools.

Fun, interactive scientific workshops

Our young researchers explored several of the program’s key themes. Through adapted research situations, they were able to tackle :

  • The environment: sorting waste and distinguishing between natural and unnatural.

  • Living things: Life cycles and animal classification.

  • Physics: “sink or float” experiments, magnetism and light and shade.

  • Flagship experiment: an impressive volcanic eruption that amazed all the students.

Each workshop enabled the children to test and formulate their first scientific hypotheses.

A collective project supported by the LFIDD community

The strength of our pedagogy lies in the involvement of the entire school community. This day was made possible thanks to :

  • Our eco-delegates, who enthusiastically led the workshops.

  • The teaching team, architects of these educational experiences.

  • The parents, whose involvement enriched the morning.

Learning differently: science through experience

In kindergarten, play is the key to discovery. This approach stimulates language, develops critical thinking and gives pupils confidence in their ability to explore. It’s an essential stage in the development of future vocations.
