Francophone Poetry in Kenya: CM1-CM2 Students from the Lycée Français Denis Diderot de Nairobi Take Centre Stage
On 26 May 2026, students from the CM1-CM2 class at the Lycée Français Denis Diderot de Nairobi (LFIDD) took part in the launch of the poetry collection Light and Shadows at Alliance Française Nairobi.
This literary project, developed in partnership with the Francophone Kenyan Writers’ Voices (VEFK), brought together young writers from several educational institutions across Kenya with a shared ambition: to write, create and express themselves in French.
Through their poems, the students explored the theme Light and Shadows with sensitivity, imagination and creativity. The experience enabled them to strengthen their writing skills while discovering the richness of Francophone literature and the diversity of perspectives that shape our world.
The collection highlights the talent of young authors engaged in a collaborative project that promotes intercultural dialogue, multilingualism and the French language in Kenya.
The Lycée Français Denis Diderot de Nairobi is especially proud of the CM1-CM2 class and the quality of the work they produced. Congratulations to all the students for their commitment, creativity and enthusiasm throughout this inspiring journey.
