Language May, celebrated for the fourth time this year in the AEFE network, aims to highlight the multilingualism and cultural diversity of our students. For one day, families are invited to come and share their culture through various workshops.
To prepare for this event, our students worked with our librarian to create “Fleurs des langues”, which showcase their multilingualism. Each student created his or her own language flower, then participated in the class flower by making a petal. The students’ creations were exhibited in their classrooms before being used to decorate the school on this May of languages. These language-awareness activities have revealed a great linguistic diversity among our students, with an average of almost 20 different languages in each class!
May of Languages was celebrated at our school on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. On this occasion, many families answered our call and came to offer a workshop: African dance, Senegalese wrestling, cricket, marble games, songs, storytelling, Arabic and Hindi calligraphy, quizzes… We were also able to set up a tasting stand for all participants, featuring a variety of specialities from around the world.
These workshops were attended by all the kindergarten and first-grade pupils, whose parents volunteered their time on this special day. The other classes were all able to visit the tasting booth, much to the delight of our students… and their teachers!
We would like to thank all the families who took part in this event, without whom it would not have been possible. We look forward to seeing you again next year, and hope to be able to offer workshops to all our students!
