LFIDD Celebrates Cultural Diversity During the “Month of Languages” Evening in Nairobi

On May 22nd, Lycée Français International Denis Diderot concluded its “Month of Languages” celebrations with a vibrant multicultural evening bringing together students, families, and staff around the richness of world cultures, languages, music, and traditions.

This special event highlighted LFIDD’s commitment to international education, cultural diversity, and global citizenship within Nairobi’s international community.

A Creative Theatre Performance by 6ème Students

The evening began with a theatre performance presented by 6ème students, who performed a creative adaptation of Little Thumb, rewritten by Laurent Gutman and the French literature teachers.

Combining humour, music, and creativity, the play offered families a memorable artistic moment while showcasing students’ confidence and talent on stage.

Music and International Cuisine Bringing Cultures Together

Throughout the evening, Kenyan music groups and Burundian drummers created a festive atmosphere across the campus, allowing visitors to experience the sounds and rhythms of different cultures.

Families also enjoyed international food stands organised by Pundaktiv, discovering flavours and culinary traditions from around the world.

A Colourful Celebration of Cultural Identity

One of the highlights of the evening was the traditional family parade, where families proudly wore traditional outfits while carrying their national flags and walking to music representing their countries.

This colourful moment beautifully reflected the multicultural identity of the LFIDD community and celebrated the diversity that makes the school unique in Nairobi.

Promoting International Mindedness Through Cultural Diversity

At Lycée Français International Denis Diderot, multilingualism and intercultural understanding are central to student learning and development.

Through events such as the “Month of Languages,” LFIDD continues to nurture globally minded students prepared to thrive in an interconnected world.
