Language Month at LFIDD: A Unique Multicultural Experience in Nairobi

On May 12, the Lycée Français International Denis Diderot (LFIDD) celebrated Language Month. The event focused on cultural diversity, multilingualism, and global learning.

Through immersive workshops and collaborative activities, students explored new languages and cultures. As a result, they enjoyed a rich international experience.

Discovering Languages from an Early Age

First, kindergarten students travelled around the world through stories, multilingual songs, and calligraphy workshops.

In addition, parents joined the activities and shared their native languages and traditions. Thanks to these exchanges, children developed cultural curiosity from an early age.

Moreover, the experience highlighted the linguistic richness of the school community.

World Sports and Traditional Games

Next, secondary students explored traditional games and sports from different countries.

Activities included mahjong, mölkky, and awale. They also discovered hockey, fencing, and Senegalese wrestling.

As a result, students strengthened teamwork and cooperation. At the same time, they learned about cultures from around the world.

Fourteen Countries Represented by Student Ambassadors

In the afternoon, the campus became an international village.

Fourteen countries were represented by student ambassadors. Each booth featured cultural displays, interactive activities, and engaging presentations.

Visitors discovered new traditions, languages, and cultural heritage. In addition, they exchanged ideas directly with the students.

Furthermore, every participant received an LFIDD cultural passport. After each activity or quiz, they collected a special stamp created by students.

An International School Open to the World

Through Language Month, LFIDD reaffirms its commitment to multilingual education and intercultural exchange.

Today, the school welcomes students from many nationalities. Its multicultural environment encourages curiosity, respect, and open-mindedness.

Finally, the event highlighted the value of languages and global citizenship. It also showed how cultural diversity enriches the entire school community.
