MSMUN 2025 Recap: An Unforgettable Experience for Our Students!
From January 28 to 31, 2025, 18 middle school students from Grades 7 to 9 took part in the MSMUN (Model United Nations) conference in Nairobi. They joined over 65 schools and nearly 1,000 students from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and Rwanda for this major event.
The Model United Nations is a simulation of international diplomatic debates where students take on the roles of delegates representing different countries. They must defend their assigned positions while following strict parliamentary procedures. This is no easy task! Participants engage in high-level debates in English, delivering 90-second speeches, proposing amendments, speaking according to set protocols, and justifying their votes in front of at least 100 people.
Our students proudly represented the delegations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Grenada, Myanmar, and Israel. They navigated complex discussions with great skill, demonstrating critical thinking and the ability to defend diverse perspectives.
One of the key moments of this year’s conference was the presentation of a resolution by our ambassador, Leila (Grade 8), in the Human Rights committee. The students proposed a project aimed at protecting female athletes in Kenya from abuse and violence. Their resolution was well received and successfully adopted by the General Assembly. The speeches given by Anna and Aliza Keza stood out for their eloquence and relevance.
A special thank you to the Tirops Angels organization, which inspired our students and helped them understand the importance of standing up against the mistreatment of women.
Another highlight of the conference was the Ecology committee, where our delegates faced an unexpected challenge: saving the planet from an invasion of prehistoric creatures! This unique exercise encouraged creativity while addressing crucial environmental issues.
We are extremely proud of their performance and dedication! We look forward to seeing them in action at next year’s MUN events!
