From June 10th to 14th, 2025, our 5e SIB students had the incredible opportunity to travel to Zanzibar for an unforgettable educational journey, blending history, culture, environmental awareness, and real-world experiences.
- Day 1: Students began with a historical tour of Stone Town, discovering key landmarks such as the former slave market, the House of Wonders, and Zanzibar Fort : diving deep into the history of the East African coast.
- Day 2: A day of engagement and discovery, with a visit to a women’s empowerment NGO, a traditional dhow boatyard, and a delicious seafood lunch by the beach.
- Day 3: In Paje, students learned about the seaweed farming industry and its current challenges, visited a local soap-making workshop, and observed the stunning biodiversity including red colobus monkeys and mangrove ecosystems.
- Day 4: The final day included a dhow trip to Prison Island and its giant tortoise sanctuary, a Swahili lunch, a tour of a spice farm, and a bit of shopping to wrap up the trip with souvenirs and smiles.
This trip was a perfect example of how learning extends beyond the classroom, helping our students grow as curious, engaged global citizens.
