On November 20th, 2025, the Lycée Français International Denis Diderot of Nairobi welcomed Aurélien Mounier, a paleoanthropologist, CNRS research fellow, and associate researcher at the Turkana Basin Institute.
A specialist in the evolutionary history of the human family, Aurélien Mounier focuses on the processes that shaped our species, Homo sapiens, through the study of the fossil record of the genus Homo. His research combines interdisciplinary approaches and innovative digital tools.
During his talk, middle and high school students explored the realities of scientific research, fieldwork in West Turkana (northern Kenya), and the importance of archaeology in understanding human populations that lived over one million years ago.
This enriching encounter offered students a direct connection to contemporary research, reinforcing scientific literacy, critical thinking, and the LFIDD’s commitment to academic excellence and international openness.
