Press Week: an immersive journalism experience for LFIDD students

As part of Press Week, CM1 and CM2 students from the Lycée Français International Denis Diderot of Nairobi, an international school in Nairobi and member of the AEFE network, had the unique opportunity to visit the RFI Kiswahili studio.

This hands-on experience allowed students to explore the world of journalism and radio broadcasting, while interacting directly with media professionals.

A key highlight of the visit was a real-life challenge: in just 10 minutes, students had to write, rehearse, and record a short news segment.

From speaking on air to managing technical aspects, this activity engaged a wide range of skills central to media literacy education, including communication, teamwork, and critical thinking.

It is now possible to listen to their podcast, showcasing their work and this unique immersive experience.

At LFIDD, a leading French school in Nairobi, such initiatives reflect a strong commitment to high-quality international education, preparing students to understand and engage with today’s media landscape.

This enriching experience demonstrates the school’s dedication to innovative learning and real-world exposure.
